The mission of AFP Connecticut Chapter is to advance the profession of fundraising and the institution of philanthropy in The chapter is run by professionals from across the state who volunteer their time and talents to bring educational, networking and professional advancement opportunities to others in the field. Evidence of their hard work and dedication can be seen by the chapter winning the 2008 Ten-Star Award, a distinction earned only by those chapters which perform specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy. Of the 200 chapters in AFP International, 74 chapters received the award for 2008. Opportunities for volunteer service are available in a number of areas.
