Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation partners exceptional men and women who are blind with its elite German Shepherd Guide Dogs, providing all clients with increased independence to do great things to improve their lives and the world around them.

ORGANIZATION Fidelco is inspired every day by its exceptional blind clients. They climb Mt Everest, win gold medals as world class athletes, serve America in the military and sacrifice on the battlefield. They teach school, create documentary films, work in business and government, raise families, and advocate for the disabled.

COMPANY Founded in Connecticut in 1960, Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation (www.fidelco.org) is an internationally accredited and recognized expert. It is one of 12 accredited guide dog training organizations in the USA (90 worldwide).Fidelco has two offices; Bloomfield, CT, a suburb ten minutes north of Hartford, and a new office in Wilton, CT (Fairfield County).

It takes 2 years, 15,000 hours and $45,000 to breed, train and place each guide dog. There is no cost to the recipient. Fidelco also provide 24/7 client service for the lifetime of the team, typically 10 years. Fidelco has placed over 1,450 Guide Dogs across North America in 41 states and five Canadian provinces.

RELATIONSHIP AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Major Gifts Officer, Development & Philanthropy reports to the Vice President, Director of Development. This is a key position with opportunity for advancement. The position may be based in either Fidelco office location.

The Major Gifts Officer, Development & Philanthropy will secure revenue to meet critical fundraising targets from existing donors and targeted prospects in both key donor segments: Individuals and Organizations. The ideal candidate is a team player who will help to develop a robust fundraising environment that generates annual operating revenue and endowment funds including, but not limited to Major Gifts; Planned Giving; Grants and Sponsorships; and Business Partnerships.

EXPERIENCE A bachelor’s degree is required. An advanced degree is preferred. Accreditation as a CFRE, ACFRE is highly desirable. A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership growth and senior business development experience with demonstrated and quantifiable results equal to, or greater, than Fidelco’s budget.
