2017 CFRE Refresher Course Scholarships
Two scholarships of up to $200 to help defray the costs of taking the CFRE Refresher Course were offered through AFP Connecticut Chapter. Information for the 2018 CFRE Refresher Course Scholarship will be available after the first of the year.
2018 Chamberlain Scholarship
The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy is proud to offer the Chamberlain Scholarship Program for the 2018 International Conference on Fundraising. This program is designed to help individuals serving nonprofit organizations develop their knowledge and skill in fundraising. The 2017 scholarship recipient will receive complimentary registration to the Annual International Conference less a $10 processing fee.
In order to qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Candidate is employed as a fundraising professional or, if candidate is an executive director, a substantial amount of time must be devoted to fundraising
- Candidate has never attended an AFP or NSFRE International Conference on Fundraising as a registered participant (unless as a member of the Conference Host Committee)
- Candidate must complete an evaluation form about International Conference experience
- Only one individual from any local organization or institution may be selected
- Must be employed by a 501(c) (3) organization which could not otherwise afford to send the candidate to the conference.
- Must be willing to volunteer for the AFP CT Chapter.
- Must share experience and insights with AFP CT members via article in newsletter, etc.
- May not have received another AFP CT scholarship in the past year.

AFP Connecticut underwrites six scholarships each year for membership, depending on available resources.
Distribution within several categories will vary in response to the applicant pool. Scholarships may be renewed one time at half value (by application) at the discretion of the AFP Connecticut chapter board of directors and the chapter Scholarship Committee.

AFP Philanthropy Day Conference Scholarship

The NPD Conference in Connecticut is hosted by the state's chapters—AFP Connecticut and AFP Fairfield County—and will be held in November at Waterbury, Connecticut.
Both chapters offer scholarships to those who may not be able to attend the Connecticut conference without financial assistance. Preference goes to individuals who serve small organizations with limited resources.
In addition, AFP Connecticut Chapter offers a one-time award of $1,000 ($500 from the Connecticut chapter and $500 from AFP International) to attend the International Conference –a Chamberlain Scholarship.
AFP International Conference on Fundraising
A scholarship candidate must be a member of AFP for at least six months and a current Connecticut chapter member, be employed as a fundraising professional, or an executive director who devotes a substantial amount of time to fundraising, not have attended an International Conference in the past, and agrees to provide an evaluation report back to the Chapter.
AFP Connecticut also grants one $500 scholarship to those who meet the criteria and have received this scholarship in the last two years. Otherwise, the criteria and application is the same as for the Chamberlain Scholarship (noted above).
To be considered for either Chamberlain Scholarship, or the NPD® in Connecticut Conference Scholarship, submit a Conference Scholarship Application and required attachment.
Candidates should read the criteria for each type of scholarship carefully.
NOTE: The same scholarship application is used for the:
AFP International Conference - Chamberlain Scholarship, AFP Connecticut Chapter Member to International Conference,National Philanthropy Day® in Connecticut (statewide) Conference, and the CFRE Review Course.
AFP Fairfield County Chapter also offers scholarships to their members.
